Default Using your own charaters as hero's

I would love to be able to use some of my other chars as hero's,I think they have to be asended first and don't gain xp,or get new places on their map and so on.
They would work just like any other hero in your team but you would be able to enjoy all your hard work eg nice amours and so on that you've earned whilst gaming with that char.
What do you guys think would it be sweet?has it already been suggested?

Good idea, for GW2 probably. Probably not about to happen in GW through.

Players, on completion of a certain task or point in gameplay, can unlock their own characters as a companion. Those companions could have all skills unlocked, given non-buffed armor of color and type that your character is currently wearing at the time, and a max damage and customized weapon of their profession. From that, you'll have to upgrade them with new weapons and armor just like any other hero of GW.

Probably should limit it to one per profession, or something?

And obviously, the companion can't take benefits it gains and bring those back to the main character.

Hey,

I've been lurking around this board for a good bit now, and this idea more then most of the other ones strikes me as being a really legitimately great idea. Seems perfectly balanced, I love the ascention req, and it would be a ton more fun for all parties involved. Would really break up the monotony of a stock set of heros.

Heros share Gold, though I guess they pay alot of Child Support/Allamony/Back Taxes cause they naver have it.

Obviously You other characters would not be able to share gold.

Also along the lines of "not gaining map" if you Eles ever been to the Fire Islands, then your Ele can't "hero" there for you either.

Despite my ideas for improvement I'd still have to

Would be fun, as it would merely be an aesthetic difference. Continuity is not a big deal, since, well, every character techincally is living in a timeless world, whats to say I play on X character with Y character as hero into a place Y character hasn't been to yet, and then I go play Y character and play it by himself from an "earlier" time. I mean, all of our characters can magically stay put in time forever, who cares if they go as heroes to areas their character version hasn't been yet? It doesn't break continuity from GW mechanics perspective. If it bothers you, then don't do it lol.

Again this is just a vanity issue to me, would be cool to travel with your other characters though. Of course they wouldn't benefit you any more than a stock hero, wouldn't share loot (greedy characters!), and wouldn't affect the ACTUAL chracters progression in his/her own timeline.

I like it! Have doubts as to whether this will actually get implemented or not though, probably fairly tough to code.

It's been suggested before, and by me once! I'd be happy if it were just normal heroes but with their skin and name changed. It can't be hard to code, it's just putting a permanent disguise on your heroes.
I wouldn't mind if they had your characters weapons and runes either!

Sorry, but Heroes did not kill anything. I was soloing most of GW's content in Prophecies/Factions long before Nightfall and the advent of Heroes. Moreover, when I want a group, I can usually find one -- and if I can't find a group I can always call on my Guild/Alliance to help.

Teamplay remains as an option for those who want to play that way (that's part of what a good guild is for). What Heroes meant to me is that I can more enjoyably get through most missions or dungeons alone or with just a couple of friends rather than wait around for a full group of players to form; the Hero/hench feature is one of the things that makes GW absolutely great, imo. If you love player team-only play, I would heartily recommend an MMO like WoW to you.

As the GW population continues to thin -- both because of dissipating interest and a wider geographic spread (the player population now being spread across 3 campaigns plus 1 expansion) -- Heroes/henches (a great feature to begin with) are more critical than ever. The OP's suggestion would make a good idea even better. I would suggest that an alt only become available as a Hero in a particular campaign if both the main and the alt(s) have beaten that campaign.

For clarification...

Are you saying that if we copy our character as a hero that our character would gain rewards based on how the hero does?

I don't believe that's fair.

No what i mean well all i want is to use another of my chars skins as a hero eg my fav char is my warrior but my necro has fow amour and is pale and scary looking so i would like to use him as a hero.

The char or chars being used as heros wouldnt be able to gain new map areas whilst being a hero
now would they get loot thought their cut would still be taken out of the drops (kinda like they get the gold but give it all to charity before you get to see it)

I think you're trying to say that the hero's fair share of loot would still be cut from the drops, but I'm hazy on whether you think that should go to the actual character or not. I don't believe it should.

Assuming it's a whole new hero, what I'm saying is that on acquiring the new hero, they would be given a customized and max damage weapon of their profession. So, a new Ranger would get a maxed and customized bow.

I'd like to say that the skin that it has would be the same as the skin as whatever weapon the character you're copying is holding, but I feel that that could be too easily exploited to get free maxed and clean versions of rare skins that might otherwise come with unfortunate stats. The skin should just be something common.

No retards in pugs killed team play. I was using henches alone before i ever had heros. I deleted my monk because of stupid people. It took me 5 weeks to get arborstone because of the teams i had to deal with critical failed. Heros may have sealed the deal but they never started the death to pugs.

to the OP, sadly I agree with Orange Milk on the Not Signed, but not for the same reasons. Heres why, although most of my chars are ascended, not all of them have been to the same places. there for they couldnt go with me to every spot on the map. not only that buy not all of my chars (sadly) have all of the skills i would like them to have, even though my account does. So they would be very limited as heros.

Now if it is just the skin and name of my char, but with the hero skill options, that would be cool, and I would /signed.

I'm pretty sure his suggestion is: allow us to add new Heroes or reskin old ones so they look like another one of our characters. For example, my main character is Morina Duathi, a Necromancer. I often bring two monk heroes when H+Hing somewhere. I activate Zol Krana (beaten two campaigns, has Elite Luxon armor), and he replaces Tahlkora at Prot monk. In the party order, it shows as "Zol Krana" in that hero slot. Zol Krana gets no benefits from whatever Mori does, he's just a cool-looking replacement for the hackneyed Young Monk/Tahlkora.

/Signed for creativity and how it would make your characters more personalized, instead of trucking around with the same 25 Heroes as everybody else

As for coding, I'm sure they could repurpose the code used for the Resilience monument (the armor one that saves a snapshot of your character wearing that armor), mix it with the "Hero Armor" feature, and do some dynamic renaming. It'd be a little difficult, but would be uber cool to see happen.

I actually prefer working with heroes and henchies much better than real people. At least they somewhat listen to what I say and know what they're doing.

I agree that this probably won't happen until GW2 if at all, but I do like the idea. Yes, your characters would have to be ascended and if they don't have a certain place unlocked, they couldn't go there, even as a companion. And no customized weapons on one character to another.

I like working with players (preferably my guildies and friends) but being able to show off all my characters at once. Well, that's simply WIN.
